Newest install at Lac & Co! our newest “Gold Branches”. We customized the white flowers to blue, and added pink instead of the orange. Really love how the gold translates on the wall!

Over dinner one night my friend Aleks asked me what my favourite part of dining out was; the location, the ambience, the vibe, or the food. I was torn between ambience and vibe, but ambience won. There is something really cool about a restaurant that has limited decor but an effortless vibe, but there is nothing I love more than walking into space that has the ability to transport me to another world. Last summer I was in France. France has this power. From Paris to Saint - Tropez I was transported. The je ne sais quoi of the French Riviera felt magical. Designing these embroidered napkins I collected images from my travels, interiors and people that inspired me. My mission was to create linen that had the power to create an ambience within your home and transport you. The power of textile on a table is so powerful. The colours are bright, however next to black ground they are sexy and elevated. I set the table last night for a cozy dinner outside. I am so excited to share these with you!

This rug was almost a year in the making - the added 3-4 months thanks to covid. I could not get over the detail. So beautiful. We’ve installed a new casino vibe wallpaper at Dolphin Gaming, and I’m working on our newest bespoke to be installed by the end of this month! The newest mural will hang in a 180 year old building that is being restored into a beautiful restaurant. Hope you’re having a good weekend! x C

I built CKD with ZERO connections in the industry, I was extremely naive - probably still am, I had no money and very little knowledge of the product I wanted to create. But I had an idea, a vision - a vision that very little people understood or believed in. From day one my intuition has never failed me. Ever. I found a hole in the market and moved forward with no fear. I believed in magic. I believed that there were no coincidences. I would see everyone who crossed my path as a teacher, learning big or small lessons that would help me on my path. And they did. Something changed when I moved back from New York. That magic & that wonder - it faded. I sit back now and think, why? I had mastered the concept of manifesting, vision board-ing and thinking positive. Over the past four years things have started to fall into place for CKD, greater opportunities have presented themselves, opportunities that I used to dream about.
What is magic & wonder? What do they even mean? I used to believe they were this far away enchanted world that mirrored something like the Secret Garden. It was external. Separate. And if I kept moving my feet one foot in front of the other I would one day find the key. I have learned something very valuable recently that I feel I needed to share. This magic, it’s very real. But it’s not external, it lives inside of me as me. The magic is my imagination, my intuition, my higher self, my love for myself, God, my knowing, energy, vibration. Building an authentic business will require all of you, your business mind and The Magic inside of you. I’ve learned how important it is to align the two. I’ve been paving my own path - a pathless path - and I’ve learned the only way forward is to get lost. I believe there is no light without darkness and the darkness is often filled with tricksters on this pathless path, dark in the disguise of light. Encountering darkness is so important to the inner workings of learning more about who you are, for me it was learning more about my humanness - and seeing myself in a light I have never seen before. These tricksters are there to serve you, mirroring the parts of you that are trying to show you something. Little lessons that will guide you to the next evolution of yourself. Learning more about the self will do more wonder than a vision board could ever do for you.
The objective of getting lost is to not be “found”, it’s to understand that you have always been “found” within, as yourself. I am my anchor. All the little clues along the way, light or dark are designed perfectly for you. They are designed to build your confidence in the Magic & Wonder of who you are. Not some far away Secret Garden. Gaining the confidence to accept all the sides of yourself & then loving them will give your inner magic power, wake it up and ignite it.
Trust yourself. Sit with yourself. Take your power back and get lost. x C

I am SO excited about this collaboration! CKD is partnering up with Toronto artist Briony Douglas for the launch of our newest linens! The concept is so sick. Can’t wait for you to see these photos. xx

There is nothing I love more than receiving samples or prototypes to the studio. It’s like Christmas morning every single time. CKD is launching limited edition tableware. We are still at the sample phase - I’m not loving the print quality or the weird blue outlines, but I thought I’d give you a sneak peek! Other than that, life lately has been filled with friends. Hope you guys had a great weekend. x C

A good friend of mine who I met in ny has moved back from San Fran and got herself a beautiful spot in Muskoka for the summer. She’s a very talented ux designer who is working from her cute window overlooking Lake Joe. It’s wild how life has changed. When would it ever be appropriate to do your work from Zoom. Mich and I worked all day, drank wine at night and danced in the living room to our fav songs. It’s important for me to mix in that girlfriend time. She also sat down with me one night and went through my website & made some changes to enhance my user experience. We talked about google analytics and how to improve the flow of my website. I thought, how cool is it that I have people in my life who would take the time to help me. In exciting news, things are starting to get busy again for CKD. The bespoke projects that were put on hold are finally ramping up again. Feels nice to jump back into my work again.

A couple days spent in the land of the french was a much needed break from Toronto. My suppliers are in Montreal. It was nice to take the time and see them face to face. When life gets really busy it’s all over email and well, it’s much more fun to chat over wine. I’m back in the studio and silently planning my next escape. This covid life is really depressing. I’m SO ready to get rid of those masks and get on with living. I refuse to accept this “new normal” or whatever the media is calling it. MASKS AREN’T NORMAL. They ruin your makeup, and they make it impossible to wear lipgloss. Anyway, happy weekend xx

Home from a weekend in Sauble Beach. The newest June Motel is stunning. My mom, sister and I had a really great time, the perfect weekend away. I’ve never been to Sauble Beach before and loved the vibe. The first night there we brought food from Heydays (delicious) to the room, put on our comfy sweatshirts, sat on our balcony with wine watching the rain. It was simple and perfect. The second night was spent on their patio tables under the hanging lights with artist and friend Christine Flynn, her husband Neil and new friends Annie and Emma. We stayed up late drinking wine. It’s been a while since I laughed as hard as I did. I really missed meeting new people.
Their custom oversized waves look great in the rooms. For the first time ever we are selling their bespoke print by the roll in their shop. I can’t wait to go back. The beach makes everything better. Thank you ladies for a great weekend. xC
