// FARRAH

It was sometime in October of last year during a six hour studio class when I started sketching this brooch. I remember I was teaching myself how to use water colour paint, and I was frustrated because it looked like shit [excuse my French]. So I went for a walk, bought the new Porter magazine, got myself a fresh Americano [must have been number 3 of the day], and sat on a bench. There was an article written about Brooches.I've always loved wearing Dee and Ricky's Lego Heart, so my thought process went something like this: mmm I like brooches, I've taught myself how to draw flowers, I love roses, maybe this can be something.

The textile surface design program at FIT was really hard for me. I had no idea I would be picking up a paint brush again. I had to teach myself everything. Farrah represents this time in my life. The mold of the flower is an exact copycat of my first flower drawn for one of my first designs made. Inspired by the Calixte Bracelet, I wanted movement and shine so I added chains in Rose Gold and Silver.

Voila, Fashion's First Lady was born.
